St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Headteacher's Welcome

Having joined the team at St Mary’s in January 2013, I am deeply proud of our warm, welcoming, and faith-filled school community. Rooted in the teachings of Christ and guided by Gospel values, we strive for excellence in all that we do—academically, spiritually, and pastorally. Our aim is that St Mary’s becomes an outstanding school in every sense: a place where children flourish, feel safe, and are nurtured to become the people God calls them to be.

“We expect every teacher to be a good teacher – no child deserves less.”

We are committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. I meet regularly with teachers to review each child’s progress, identify barriers to learning, and develop strategies that promote growth and achievement. As a medium-sized school of approximately 150 pupils, we are blessed to know each child personally and work together as a close-knit team. We continually reflect on and refine our teaching practice, ensuring that every lesson is purposeful, engaging, and rooted in love.

“Make every lesson count.”

At St Mary’s, our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, deepen understanding, and cultivate the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Supported by a wide range of extracurricular opportunities, we aim to develop confident, resilient, and compassionate individuals who live out their faith in service to others. We believe that education is a sacred partnership between home, school, and parish, and we work together to nurture children who will contribute positively to the world around them.

We warmly invite you to visit us if you are seeking a smaller school with a strong family ethos, built on Catholic values and a joyful, prayerful atmosphere where your child can thrive.
