Subject Progression in Skills and Knowledge Documents

Subject Progression At St Mary's Catholic Primary School, we are dedicated to providing our pupils with a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that supports their academic and personal development. As a Voluntary Aided School, we are committed to delivering an education rooted in the values of the Catholic Church, with a focus on nurturing the whole child. Our Curriculum Approach We have worked very hard on our curriculum, constantly striving to keep it up-to-date and responsive to the needs of our pupils. Our schemes of work are fluid, allowing us to be open to change and development as we seek to provide the best possible learning experience for our children. Subject Progression Our curriculum is designed to ensure smooth progression across all subjects, with each year building upon the knowledge and skills acquired in the previous year. We prioritise the systematic use of high-impact assessment for learning approaches to secure good progress in learning for all our pupils. Personalising the Curriculum We understand that each child is unique, with their own strengths, interests, and learning needs. That's why we work exceptionally hard to get to know each child well and tailor our teaching to meet their individual requirements. Our goal is to provide a curriculum that is genuinely engaging and motivating, helping our pupils to develop into responsible, hardworking, and caring members of the community. Connecting with Families We believe that education is a partnership between the school and the home, and we are dedicated to working closely with our families to support the learning and development of each child. We encourage parents to engage with our curriculum and to contact us if they have any questions or would like to discuss any aspect of our subject progression in more detail. Nurturing the Whole Child Underpinning our curriculum is a steadfast commitment to the Gospel values and the principles of the Catholic Church. We model and teach the values of good behaviour, respect, inclusion, and honesty, ensuring that our pupils develop into well-rounded individuals who are prepared to make a positive contribution to the world. If you would like to learn more about our curriculum or discuss any aspect of it further, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are here to support you and your child on their educational journey.
